About TheOwlBay

TheOwlBay is a small site of free online random tools. It exists so teachers, students, and game groups can flip a coin, split into teams, pick a name, roll dice, or run Secret Santa without creating an account.

Who makes this

TheOwlBay is an independent utility site, not a school district product and not an app store listing. Each tool is a static page: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that run locally in your browser. We are not affiliated with Google, Wheel of Names, or Ukraine's State Migration Service (DMSU).

How the tools work

Random choices use the Web Cryptography API (crypto.getRandomValues). Your class list, coin labels, and similar form data are stored in the browser's localStorage so a refresh does not wipe the form. We do not upload those lists to a TheOwlBay server by default.

Most share URLs encode results in the query string for convenience; they are unlisted, not encrypted. Secret Santa personal links use encrypted URL fragments instead. Google Analytics loads on every visit with anonymized IPs. Ads are off until the site has durable Search Console traffic and an approved publisher account.

Privacy

Feedback

Questions, bugs, and ideas can be sent with the contact form. There is no account.

Embed on your site

Teachers can embed the team generator or random picker on a class page using the iframe snippet on those tool pages.

Games for children

TheOwlBay also has picture-first tap games for preschool and early years. They live under For children: animal sounds, phonics, vehicle parts, and more. Ads stay off on those pages. There is no video player and no child account.
