Track initiative when the table needs a round order, not a single d20 in isolation. Paste combatants, set a modifier, press Roll, then Print. Each total is d20+mod sorted high to low. Rolls use crypto.getRandomValues. The list sits in localStorage. This is not a character sheet, not a virtual tabletop, and not the generic number generator.
Why initiative is not just the dice roller
A dice roller shows faces for one notation. An initiative tracker rolls every combatant, adds a modifier, and sorts so the table can see who goes first. This page exists so a GM can paste combatants, apply a shared modifier if the house uses one, Roll, and Print the order. We do not track hit points or conditions. Ads stay off. Individual odd modifiers per creature may be limited; read the Modifier field as it appears. If you need a random encounter table, that is a sibling. If you need a bracket, that is sports, not combat rounds.
How to use the initiative tracker
Roll d20 plus modifier for each combatant and sort by total.
Results use your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator. Lists and form data stay in localStorage on your device.
How d20+mod is sorted
Each combatant gets a d20 face from crypto.getRandomValues plus the modifier, then the list sorts by total. That is independent rolls, not true random, not a VTT lock, and not a server combat log. We do not store HP on a TheOwlBay account. localStorage holds combatants and modifier on this device. The dice roller remains the place for 4d6 drop lowest and mixed notation. Ads stay off. This is not affiliated with a publisher’s encounter math. If you needed a raffle, do not use initiative totals as tickets.
Who this tracker is for
GMs and players at a physical or video-call table who want a printable round order will paste combatants here. It is not a mobile VTT, not a legal SRD, and not a classroom student picker. Teachers running a probability demo can still use it as d20+mod. TheOwlBay does not require an account. If you only need one roll, use the dice roller. If you need a country or a word, those are other pages. Ads stay off. Convention tables and club one-shots that forgot printed initiative tents can Roll once and Print. It still will not track concentration, death saves, or legendary actions for you.
