This page is for people who already know the video and need a file they can keep offline — study lectures, royalty-free backing tracks you own, or your own uploads. You are responsible for copyright. How to convert your link

Paste a YouTube watch, youtu.be, embed, or Shorts URL into the link field. A sample link is available so you can try the flow on a first visit. Read the conversion notice and press Accept and continue — without consent the Convert button stays hidden. Press Convert to MP3. The page sends your URL to our AWS Lambda conversion service. While processing runs you will see a Converting status. When finished, a Download MP3 button appears with a presigned link to a temporary file in S3. Press Clear to reset the form and remove the result. Your last URL can return from localStorage on this device. Invalid links show an error under the buttons. If the service is busy or the video is unavailable you will see a specific message.

What happens on our servers

When you press Convert, your browser POSTs the YouTube URL to TheOwlBay's conversion API, which forwards the job to AWS Lambda. Lambda uses yt-dlp and ffmpeg to extract audio and write a temporary MP3 object to Amazon S3. You receive a presigned download URL — not a browser-only capture. Nothing is processed entirely on your device. Files in S3 are temporary and expire; we do not claim permanent storage. TheOwlBay does not bypass YouTube sign-in for restricted clips or remove platform restrictions. You must only submit URLs for content you have rights to download. We may throttle or refuse overloaded requests. Clearing site data removes your saved URL and consent flag on this device.
