Why an Oscar ballot is a dated static list

Office pools and living-room arguments want a paper Oscar ballot with this year’s nominees, not a streaming database. TheOwlBay will not scrape IMDb. You paste a dated nominee list. How to fill and print the ballot

Read the hint on the panel: edit nominees under each category if the built-in dated list is stale. Press randomize my ballot if you want one crypto.getRandomValues pick per category, or mark picks yourself on the printout. Press print. Take the paper to the watch party. There is no submit button to a TheOwlBay contest. Update the list when nominations drop. Share a result if the payload is small. Empty categories are yours to paste — we will not fetch them. If you wanted each friend to own one film as a sweep, open hat-draw instead of filling every category.

How randomize picks a nominee

Each category’s nominee list is a uniform pick with crypto.getRandomValues, independent of other categories. That is a party fill, not a model of guild awards or a claim that the Academy will agree. The built-in list is static data shipped with the page, not a live feed from IMDb or a network. We are not affiliated with the Academy, the Recording Academy, or any broadcaster. localStorage can remember edits on this device if the script saves the paste. Print uses the browser dialog. There is no account and no scoring against official winners on a TheOwlBay server. Reset is editing the nominees or randomizing again, not a hidden “correct ballot” key.

Who this awards ballot is for

Watch parties on 14 March 2027, office pools, and film clubs that want paper instead of a spreadsheet. It is also usable for Grammys 7 February 2027 if you paste those nominees into the same categories layout. It is not a ticket to the ceremony and not a voting membership. Kids’ “best homemade film” nights can paste classroom categories. If you wanted to assign each friend one Best Picture nominee as a sweep, hat-draw may be simpler. Halloween costume contests should stay on the costume page; this ballot is award categories. TheOwlBay will not mail your ballot to the Academy. Print it, argue, and recycle.
