Why a wedding seating chart generator is not classroom rows

Classroom seating is rows × columns for a substitute teacher. How to seat the dinner

Paste guests, one party per line. Put plus-ones on the same line with & or + as the plus-ones hint describes. Set seats per table (for example 8). Add keep-apart pairs as Name A, Name B if needed. Press generate tables. Each block is labeled table plus a number. Press print for place-card night. If the list is empty the page asks for guests. Generate again for a new shuffle if the floor plan changed. The list is stored in localStorage on this device. Share URLs may be too large for a full wedding list; print is the reliable path. Edit a name spelling and generate again rather than fighting a cloud seating app. No TheOwlBay account is required.

How tables of N are filled

Plus-ones on one line are treated as a single unit so they are not split across tables. Units are shuffled with crypto.getRandomValues and packed into tables of the size you set. Keep-apart pairs are honored when the counts allow; if they cannot be, you may need a larger table size or fewer constraints. Table headings use a translated Table label plus a number so printouts stay readable. We do not optimize for “fun conversationalists” or VIP pins beyond what you encode in the list order and exclusions. Nothing is uploaded to a planner SaaS. localStorage is this browser on this device. Clear site data if you want the guest list gone after the Monday of the wedding week.

Who this wedding table tool is for

Couples, wedding parties, and family hosts seating a plated dinner or a buffet with assigned tables. Rehearsal dinners and awards-night tables can use the same generator without pretending it is a classroom grid. It is not for classroom rows, bus seats, or airplane groups — those still belong on seating chart. It is not a catering menu and not a gift registry. If you needed a draft of who sits with the head table politically, you still decide that; we only shuffle within your rules. Potluck is dishes, not chairs. Football squares is a score grid.
