This would you rather generator shows two options at a time from pairs you paste as A | B, or from a short original starter deck. It is not truth or dare, not an open icebreaker question, and not a three-word Control-V prompt. Load starter list, pick, and reset the pair deck. Hide nothing: both choices are meant to be read aloud. Draws use crypto.getRandomValues. Your pairs can sit in localStorage. Classroom-safe originals stay short on purpose.
Why a would you rather generator is two options
Icebreaker questions are open. Truth or dare piles risk on a spin. A would you rather generator is strictly two choices so a class or a party can argue without a third trap. This page exists because that two-option job is not the icebreaker deck and not charades. Paste your own A | B lines for a themed night, or load the original starter pairs. We will not ship a scraped dump of mean dares. Kid and classroom lists stay classroom-safe; write a party list yourself if you want sharper humor. If you needed acting, use charades. If you needed a single writing hook, use writing prompts. TheOwlBay does not score votes on a server.
How to draw a pair
Leave the pairs box empty to use the built-in deck, or paste one pair per line as Option A | Option B. Press load starter list to fill the box with original pairs you can edit. Press pick a pair to show both options with an “or” between them. Press reset deck to shuffle remaining pairs back. If the deck is empty you will be asked to load starter list or paste A | B lines. The textarea can stay in localStorage. Share a result URL if the pair is worth keeping. There is no timer on this page; use the classroom timer if you want debate seconds. Nothing is uploaded. No TheOwlBay account is required.
How pairs are parsed and shuffled
Each line splits on the first pipe into two sides. Lines without two sides are ignored. If the box has valid pairs, that list is the deck; otherwise the original starter pairs injected at build time are used. The deck is shuffled with crypto.getRandomValues and popped one pair at a time until reset deck restocks. The word between the options is a translated “or,” not a third choice. We do not randomize a winner; the room still argues. We do not call this genuinely random. localStorage holds the paste on this device. Clearing site data clears custom pairs. Empty and reset messages are separate so a class knows whether to paste or to reshuffle.
Who this two-option tool is for
Teachers who want a quick talk prompt, youth groups, and parties that already know the would-you-rather format. It is not for drawing (random word), acting (charades), or karaoke. Icebreaker remains the open-question deck. Write your own pairs if the starter list is too gentle for adults; do not expect TheOwlBay to host an 18+ scrape. Classroom use should keep the original kid-safe deck or a teacher-written list. If the next activity is a countdown, open the classroom timer. If the next activity is picking a student, open the random student picker. TheOwlBay will not record who chose which side.

Is this truth or dare?
No. This would you rather generator only shows two options. We did not ship a dare deck.
How is this different from icebreaker?
