Why a chore wheel rotates instead of picking once
A single random pick can stick one housemate with trash forever if you only spin when someone complains. A chore wheel exists to assign the whole list, then rotate so duties move. Families, dorms, and small offices want a printed rota, not a productivity account. The random picker remains the right tool for one job tonight. This page is the weekly grid. We do not ping phones and we do not process allowances. If you needed who pays for takeout, that is a different rotation after a restaurant. If you needed classroom jobs, the picker still has a jobs preset; this wheel is household chores like trash, dishes, and vacuum. Potluck assigns a party spread, not a week of bins. How to assign and rotate
Paste people and chores, one per line. Press assign chores for the first pairing. Press rotate for next week to shift tasks so trash is not always the same person. Press print for the fridge. Generate again if you added a roommate. If either box is empty the page asks you to add people and chores. Lists sit in localStorage on this device. Counts do not have to match; extras are visible in the result rather than silently dropped. There is no calendar sync and no email reminder. Share a result URL if the house is split across phones. Edit a chore name and assign again rather than hunting a SaaS household app. No TheOwlBay account is required.
How rotation keeps trash moving
Assign chores shuffles pairings with crypto.getRandomValues. Rotate for next week walks each person to the next chore in the current cycle so the dirty job moves. That is the fairness story: not a hidden score, just a visible shift you can print and stick on a door. We do not track who actually did the task and we do not claim the first generate is a perfect long-run allocation. localStorage holds the two lists on this device. Print uses the browser dialog. Reset is generate again after you edit names, or rotate to advance the week. We do not call the shuffle genuinely random; it is a cryptographically strong permutation in this tab. Clear site data if a former roommate should disappear from the rota.
